Client Blog: Laura and Simon's honeymoon in Mauritius

Of all the disappointing honeymoon amendments that needed dealing with during the

pandemic, receiving Laura and Simon's phone-call, just four days before their scheduled

departure, was the most heart-rending. Once recovered from the initial upset, they dealt with

the circumstances admirably and thankfully, within 24 hours, we had a revised date to look

forward to...

We were due to be married on 4 December 2021 and depart on our honeymoon a couple of days later but just two days before the wedding, Simon tested positive for COVID and a few days of frantic activity trying to reschedule everything ensued.

All our wedding suppliers and Jo were so helpful in getting things sorted as stress-free as possible and the revised date of 26 February was confirmed for the wedding with our Mauritian honeymoon a month later.

Jo has looked after us for many years and knows what we like, so having provided a budget and brief for somewhere luxurious and relaxing, preferably with a swim-up room, she made it happen.

Victoria for 2 at the Victoria Beachcomber in Mauritius, a new destination for us, was a perfect choice.

We flew directly from Gatwick and Jo had arranged a private transfer on arrival. Our driver

was waiting with bottles of water and helped with our bags to the car. He was very polite, answering all our questions about the island, and on the hour-long journey to the hotel asked if

we would like some coconut water, which of course we did. He proceeded to pull over on the

side of the road where there was a local stall, and it was a brilliant experience watching them being made. They didn’t disappoint and tasted delicious.

As soon as we stepped out at the resort, we were made to feel welcome by the friendly staff who couldn’t do enough.

The swim-up room was absolutely incredible. Located in Victoria for 2, the adult-only area of the resort, the view was idyllic and there was a welcome bottle of prosecco waiting for us. The room mini bar was also included in the all-inclusive package and was replenished daily.

Being so much quieter and more relaxing than the main pool area, we were very happy predominantly staying in the adult-only area throughout our stay. The staff at the swim-up bar were very attentive, we often ordered snacks from there such as toasties and they would happily go out of their way to bring our orders to us personally.

The food and cocktails at the resort were superb. There are some restaurants that form part of the all-inclusive package, including La Casa (Italian) and L’Horizon, where we had one of the best meals of the honeymoon.

Much of the time we dined in the adult-only Moris Beef. This was à la carte, and the service was superb. There was a lot of choice, too, as you can also order from La Casa’s menu as they share a kitchen (a great tip).

We found the beach a bit rocky to walk barefoot on, so purchased some swim shoes from the lobby shop. There are plenty of complimentary guest activities on the beach - we enjoyed kayaking and the pedalos. However, there are loads more available.

We also indulged in a lovely couple’s full body massage in the spa where the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable.

A honeymoon experience was also included in our package, and we opted for the sunset private boat trip for two, which was really special.

Having never been on a helicopter before, we decided to add a touch of honeymoon luxury and take a tour of the island by air. It was an amazing experience that we would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the island.

We had the most wonderful honeymoon from start to finish. Victoria for 2 was the ideal place to

stay - quiet and relaxing - but then also we made friends with other couples from all around the world. We would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a special holiday.

Thank you, Jo, you were totally awesome throughout as always and we appreciate all your hard work to help make a truly special memory for us.
