Jo’s Blog: My Virtual Luxpo Experience

Being part of the Holidaysplease team that recently won leading industry publication Travel Trade Gazette's (TTG) Luxury Homeworking Business of the Year provides great new opportunities.

It's always important for me to keep up to date on the latest products and destinations but during these unchartered times, it feels even more important to do so.

Increasing my knowledge and personal contacts in the industry has always been a major priority for me as I know how important it can be for my business and my clients, so I was very excited to recently be given the opportunity to participate in the first "Virtual Luxpo" event.

Luxpo is a unique luxury event run by TTG Luxury that has taken place over the last six years in a stylish London venue. The event is designed to match a range of high-end travel brands with a handpicked selection of luxury agents in practical one-to-one meetings.

With the pandemic and lockdown making the physical event impossible, hats off to TTG and all involved for ambitiously recreating proceedings digitally via the Zoom platform and additionally providing me with a rare opportunity to put on some make-up and get dressed up!

The format worked well and was both informative and enjoyable. I got to "meet" with 12 different hotel brands, destinations and tour operators, each of whom provided useful information, interesting facts and some highlights that caught my eye that I will be sharing via my website and social media over the months ahead.

It certainly left me itching to pack my bags and set off on my own travels.

As we start to consider the emergence from this horribly tough time and think ahead to resuming our travel plans under the 'new normal' over the coming months, the luxury travel sector expects to see an increased demand for conscientious travel, wellness travel, multi-generational family groups holidaying together and an increasing desire for smaller hotels and more remote destinations.

I am sensitive to these factors and dedicated and excited about providing great options and solutions for my lovely clients.

I would like to thank all the people and companies that it was a pleasure to meet with:

And a special thank you to April and all at TTG for having me.
